The Occasion

Something Better Than Another Bar

Most private parties in this city follow the same script: a table somewhere loud, a bottle, a photograph, and a story nobody can quite remember. There's nothing wrong with it. It just isn't memorable, which is usually the entire point of the occasion.

Close-up magic changes the shape of a night. It's not a performance people watch from a distance — it happens in their hands, with their ring, their card, their thought. Thirty years of practice, three feet away, in a room of people who came out for something they haven't seen before.

What it looks like

Roaming close-up. I move between groups all evening. Works anywhere — a suite, a restaurant's private room, a backyard, a house.

A seated parlor set. Everyone sits, and for 45 minutes the whole room is the audience. Best under about 60 people. This is the one people talk about afterwards.

Mentalism. Mind reading rather than card tricks. Unnerving in the best way, and particularly good for an adult crowd that thinks it's seen everything.

Tarot and intuitive mentalism. A different flavour again — a natural fit for bachelorette parties and galas.

The practical part

No stage, no setup, no equipment. Homes, suites, private dining rooms, backyards — all fine. Fully insured at $100,000. Las Vegas, Henderson and Los Angeles.

Private parties start at $350. Bachelor and bachelorette parties from $500. Strip and luxury hotel locations are quoted slightly higher.

One note: I no longer take young children's birthday parties. Teen parties and adult birthdays are very much in scope.

Before You Ask

Questions Worth Answering

What size party does this suit?

Roaming close-up works for anything from eight people to a few hundred. A seated parlor set works best under about 60. Below about a dozen guests it becomes something closer to a private show, which is arguably the best version of it.

Can you perform at a house or hotel suite?

Yes — homes, suites, backyards, private dining rooms. No stage, no equipment, no setup time. I need somewhere to stand and people to stand near.

Do you do bachelor and bachelorette parties?

Regularly — it's a Las Vegas speciality. Tell me the tone you want and I'll pitch it there. Bachelor and bachelorette bookings start at $500.

Do you perform for children's birthday parties?

No longer. Teen parties (roughly 13 to 17) and adult birthdays are absolutely in scope — young children's parties are not something I take on any more.

What does it cost?

Private parties start at $350 for a 45-minute set. Strip and luxury hotel locations are quoted a little higher. Bachelor and bachelorette parties start at $500. Los Angeles is quoted with travel included.

How long do you perform for?

Typically 45 minutes to two hours depending on guest count and format. Anything from 30 minutes to four hours is possible.

Are you insured?

Yes, $100,000 liability — which matters if you're booking into a hotel or a venue that asks vendors for a certificate.
